A car crashed into a building after hitting another vehicle on a busy Liverpool road.

Images shared with the Liverpool Echo appear to show one of the cars involved pressed into a nearby building.

It is understood that no structural damage was caused to the building.

Emergency services were on the scene for several hours.

Merseyside Police said it was not believed that any serious injuries had resulted from the incident - which occurred in an area where temporary traffic lights are in place.

One eyewitness suggested the temporary lights may have been off at the time of the crash, but this has not been confirmed.

The incident occurred at the junction between Deysbrook Lane, Croxteth Hall Lane and Princess Drive.

Police said the incident was ongoing at the time of writing and that more details may be available about what took place later on.
