Car crash on Glasgow's south side knocks out traffic lights at busy junction

A set of traffic lights in the south side of Glasgow are currently out of action following a car crash late last-night.

The accident, involving one vehicle, occurred at the busy junction on Carmunnock Road at Menock Road in the King's Park area around 11pm.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Glasgow City Council's Traffic Management team TRAFFCOM are advising drivers in the area to take care if approaching the junction, and have confirmed that the lights will remain off until replacement traffic signal equipment can be sourced and installed.

The bulletin reads: "The traffic signals on Carmunnock Road at Menock Road are currently off following an earlier road traffic accident. These lights will remain off until replacement traffic signal equipment can be sourced and installed.

Further updates will be issued when more information becomes available. Road users should exercise caution when approaching this junction."

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police were called around 11pm on Sunday, 3 January, 2021 following the report of a car colliding with a traffic light control box on Menock Road Glasgow."
