Car covered in cling film and angry messages in parking row

Residents react in a range of different ways when they see parking which they don't approve of.

From tutting to angry notes, it's an issue which can particularly rile people. But one person's reaction has been pretty extreme.

A mum returned to her car to find it had been covered in angry messages, while nother car was covered in cling film in the same area.

What stunned the driver even more is she said she parked perfectly correctly, Birmingham Live reports.

Laura Cleaver left her Fiat on Tuesday August 6 by Chester Road railway station - near Birmingham.

She left the car for less than three hours but by the time she was back, her car had been written on.

Messages included: "There is a parking notice for a reason! Expect parking fine, thanks" and: "No parking by dropped kerb’; ‘Did you see the parking notice?"

Laura has reported the incident to West Midlands Police.

She said she was parked by the sloping part of a dropped kerb but was not blocking access.

The mum-of-two said: “I was embarrassed. A small crowd had formed.

“I was intimidated and shocked. I didn’t expect it to happen.

“I was out with my two-year-old and my husband’s nan, who is in her 80s. I got out and checked where I had parked when I got there. It wasn’t blocking any driveways.

“I had gone on the train in to Birmingham. It was around 11.15am. I got back around 2pm.

“What I did wasn’t illegal. The parking wasn’t out of order.

"I would have apologised if it had just been a note," she said.

The 28-year-old said she was told about the other car wrapped in cling film by a fellow driver.

Residents of the road said these are not isolated issues.
