Car comes perilously close to the edge of a motorway bridge after RTC near Heywood

These photos show how perilously close a car came to the edge of a bridge after an RTC on a motorway roundabout.

Police were called to Heywood Interchange on the approach to the M62 at junction 19 shortly after 5pm on Saturday.

Photos from the scene show a BMW wedged between concrete and steel barriers, just feet away from the edge of the road bridge, above the motorway.

Police say the driver was lucky to walk away from the crash uninjured, and without injuring anyone else.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service were also called to the scene.
