Car collides with wall in West Dublin close to where 'young child was asleep' as driver flees the scene after midnight in Lucan

West Dublin residents were abruptly woken up in the early hours of Saturday morning as a car collided with the front wall of a house.

The single car collision took place shortly after midnight on April 27 at Mount Bellew Way in Lucan.

After the car crashed into the wall, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene before the arrival of the gardai.

One local said that a "young child was asleep in the room right beside where the car hit".

Pictures of the incident, which were posted on a local Facebook Page, shows the black Suzuki car ploughed into the railing and the wall of the house.

In a statement to Dublin Live, gardai said they "are investigating a single car collision which occurred at Mount Bellew Way in Lucan shortly after midnight on 27 April 2019".

They added: "The car collided with a wall, the driver left the scene before the arrival of Gardaí."

This comes after four males stole a car in South Dublin on Friday afternoon and led gardai on a wild chase in broad daylight.

The teenagers stole the vehicle from outside a building on the Davitt Road in the area of Drimnagh.

They failed to stop for gardai and damaged a number of vehicles on their joyride.

They eventually came to a halt at Kylemore Park North before fleeing the scene on foot.

Gardai confirmed that three teenagers were arrested shortly after.

In a statement to Dublin Live, a garda spokeswoman said: "Four males in their teens stole a car parked outside a premises on the Davitt Rd.

"The car failed to stop for Gardaí and during a short pursuit, a number of vehicles were damaged. The car came to a stop at the Junction of Kylemore Park North and the occupants fled on foot."

They added: "Three teens were arrested shortly after, under section 4 of the CJA 1984. One male was taken to Crumlin Garda station and two other males were taken to Sundrive Rd.

"The three teens have since been released and files will be prepared. No injuries were reported by any person involved and investigations are ongoing."
