Australians buying new cars still face delays for their delivery due to a shortage of semiconductors and a shipping backlog from the Suez Canal blockage.
The peak car industry group on Wednesday said car manufacturers were still dealing with semiconductor supply and delivery issues from the ship that blocked the canal in Egypt in March.
The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries director of innovation Peter Griffin said in spite of those issues, demand for new vehicles was strong and customers were receiving their orders.
The industry recorded its sixth consecutive month of growth on the past financial year, which was wracked by COVID-19.
There were 92,347 new vehicles sold in April.
