Car bursts into flames on Scots street as emergency services race to the scene

A car has burst into flames on a street in Dundee this afternoon.

Emergency services raced to Lower Crichton Street at Slessor Gardens in the city after the alarm was raised at around 3.55pm on Monday, November 29.

Fire crews quickly scrambled to the scene to battle the blaze.

Dramatic pictures take from nearby show the white car engulfed in flames.

A large orange glow can be seen as black smoke billows up into the air.

Stunned onlookers can be seen watching on in awe as the fire spreads dangerously close to a black car parked nearby.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.54pm on Monday, November 29, to reports of a fire affecting a car parked beside Slessor Gardens, Dundee.

“Operations control immediately mobilised two fire engines to the scene and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received report of a car on fire on South Crichton Street in Dundee around 3.55pm on Monday, November 29.

"No-one was injured and the fire service are in attendance."
