Car bursts into flames in West Lothian street as fire crews rush to tackle blaze

Dramatic footage shows the moment a car burst into flames in a West Lothian street.

A silver Volkswagen in the Broxburn area caught flame around 8am this morning, with passers by capturing the scene on camera.

Footage, shared on the Facebook community page Fife Jammer Locations shows the motor with smoke billowing up into the sky.

It is understood no one was injured in the incident.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "At 8.04am we were called to a report of a care on fire on East Main Street, outside the swimming pool in Broxburn.

"Nobody was involved in the fire and crews have extinguished the blaze.

"Two appliances were in attendance and Police Scotland were also at the scene for traffic management."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland attended at Main Street, Uphall, Broxburn at 8.25am this morning after reports of a car on fire. 

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed anything suspicious should call Police Scotland on 101 quoting 1117 of 18 July."
