Car bursts into flames in south side street

Fire crews raced to the south side last night after a car was seen bursting into flames on the street.

Footage captured by local resident Laura Nisbet shows the scene on Shawbridge Street, as fire crews arrived at the Pollokshaws address shortly after 10.20pm.

It's not believed anyone was injured as a result.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue service told Glasgow Live: "We had multiple calls to the fire at around 10.20pm last night.

"We did attend and we extinguished the fire."

UPDATE: Police Scotland say they are treating the incident as 'wilful'.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At 10.20pm last night we were called to a report of a Kia Sportage car on fire in Shawbridge Street.

"The vehicle has been extensively damaged and we're treating the incident as 'wilful'.

"Enquiries are continuing."
