Car bursts into flames in busy residential street in Falkirk

Residents in a Falkirk street were left gobsmacked this morning when they looked out of their windows to see a car on fire.

The blaze broke out just after 8am on Falkirk Road in Glen Village.

Firefighters had to be called out to extinguish the inferno, with pictures on social media showing smoke billowing into the air.

No injuries were reported.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 8.12am on Wednesday, April 21, to reports of a car on fire at Falkirk Road, Glen Village, Falkirk.

"Operations Control immediately mobilised one appliance to the scene and firefighters extinguished the fire.

"Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe. There were no reported casualties."
