Car bursts into flames during serious blaze in Ayr's McDonald's car park

This is the terrifying moment a car burst into flames at a fast food outlet.

The motor was engulfed in flames in the early hours of this morning as it sat outside Ayr's McDonald's on Whitletts Road.

Stunned eyewitnesses watched as the car became a fireball shortly after 1am.

One witness said: "The car just seemed to catch fire out of nowhere.

"It went up in a matter of seconds and it was pretty scary to watch.

"Thankfully the fire brigade were on the scene quickly and able to deal with things."

The emergency services confirmed there were no injuries reported after the terrifying incident.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 1.02am to reports of a private vehicle on fire within the car park of a fast food restaurant in Ayr.

"Operations Control mobilised one fire appliance to Whitletts Road and firefighters extinguished the flames.

"There were no reported casualties.

"Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."
