Car bursts into flames after slamming into electrical pillar at Naas Road, Dublin

A driver fled a shocking situation after they crashed into an electrical pillar, causing a fire.

Brave firefighters and gardai can be seen battling with the electric blaze, hozing down the location near the Naas Road.

Dublin Fire Brigade shared the intense images which show the car on a footpath.

DFB said: "We're currently attending car vs electrical pillar with fire Long Mile Road jct Naas Road outbound."

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "Gardai responded to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision which occurred on the Long Mile Road, Dublin 12 this evening at approximately 5.20pm."

"When gardai arrived at the scene, damage had been caused to an electricity supply box as well as bollards on the side of the road. A car was abandoned at the scene and subsequently seized by gardai."

They are appealing for anyone with information to contact Clondalkin Garda Station on 01 666 7600.
