Car blaze breaks out in Chew Magna on side of road

A blaze broke out in the boot of a classic car in Chew Magna.

Firefighters attended the incident on High Street at 11:32am today (Friday, October 16).

Dramatic photographs from the scene show huge flames ripping through the vehicle.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said one crew from Bedminster attended.

He said: "It was an accidental fire which broke out in the boot of the car.

"To extinguish the fire we used a high-pressured hose reel and breathing apparatus."

Earlier today, crews also attended a diesel spill outside of Chew Valley School.

A coach leaked around 30 litres of diesel on the road at around 8:30am.

Fire crews cleared the route and made it safe for motorists.
