Three people in hospital after car and motorbike crash on M8 near Glasgow as police rush to scene

Police raced to the scene of a road crash between a car and a motorbike on the M8 near Glasgow as three people were taken to hospital.

Two lanes near Braehead in Renfrew were blocked by the collision after 4pm today.

Police remained at the scene at 4.45pm as traffic began queuing back for over three miles.

No details of injuries from the incident are known at this time.

Traffic Scotland issues updates on social media and warned drivers to expect delays.

At 5.15pm lanes were cleared however traffic was still queuing back to the Erskine Bridge and onto the M74 northbound.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.15pm on Tuesday, 5 October, police were called to a report of a two vehicle collision - a car and a motorbike - on the M8 eastbound near junction 26.

"Three people have been taken to hospital for treatment. No detail on injury. Road is now open."
