A car was abandoned after a crash in Irlam.
Liverpool Road was shut in both directions after the two-car smash this evening.
One car did not stop at the scene, while people inside the other vehicle fled on foot.
Pictures taken at the scene show damage to a traffic island on Liverpool Road.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At 6.05pm police were called to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision.
"It appears that one vehicle has left the scene and another has remained there but the occupants have left.
"There are no reports of any injuries.
"Our enquiries are ongoing."
