Captain vs captain showdown! Pat Cummins outwits Rohit Sharma in record-breaking battle

NEW DELHI: Australia captain Pat Cummins has set a new record for the most dismissals of an opposing captain in Test cricket, having dismissed India’s Rohit Sharma six times. Cummins' latest dismissal of Rohit in the captain-versus-captain battle surpassed the previous record of five dismissals held by Richie Benaud against Ted Dexter.

Cummins' dominance over Rohit showcases his strategic mastery, consistently getting the better of the Indian skipper.

Other notable players on this list include Pakistan's Imran Khan, who dismissed India’s batting legend Sunil Gavaskar five times, and India’s Kapil Dev, who claimed Clive Lloyd’s wicket four times.

In the current series, Cummins has been outstanding against Rohit, dismissing him four times in as many innings.

Across 44 balls, Rohit managed just 11 runs before Cummins claimed his wicket for the fourth time.

After Australia set India a challenging target of 340 runs, Cummins dismissed Rohit for just 9 runs.

The Indian captain attempted a flick but got a leading edge, with the ball landing directly in Mitchell Marsh's hands at gully.
