Captain Sir Tom Moore was unable to receive his coronavirus vaccine while the NHS hero was being treated for pneumonia.
The 100-year-old was taken into hospital yesterday as he struggled with his breathing following a positive Covid test.
Given his age, he would have been considered to be one of the first in the UK to receive his first dose of the vaccine.
But his family have said that he has so far been unable to get the jab due to his ongoing health complications.

A spokesperson for the family told the Mirror : “Because of the medication he was taking for pneumonia, he couldn’t have the Covid jab.
“But other than that, the information that was in his daughter Hannah’s statement is all we can share at the moment.
“Everyone is sending positive thoughts his way.”
People up and down the country were shocked to hear that Captain Tom had been admitted to Bedford Hospital, Befordshire, on Sunday.
His daughter Hannah revealed that the centenarian had been receiving treatment for pneumonia for a number of weeks before his positive Covid test last week.
Captain Tom is currently being treated on a designated Covid ward and is not in intensive care.
A statement from Hannah said: “The medical care he has received in the last few weeks has been remarkable and we know that the wonderful staff at Bedford Hospital will do all they can to make him comfortable and hopefully return home as soon as possible.
“We understand that everyone will be wishing him well. We are of course focusing on my father and will update you when we are able to.”
The World War Two veteran captured the hearts of the nation last year as he raised more than £30m for the NHS during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
Captain Tom walked 100 laps of his gardens in the run up to his 100th birthday last year.
He was later knighted for his efforts and went on to bag a number one single with a cover version of the hit You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Thousands of people have been tweeting messages of support for the centenarian following the news.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson wrote: “My thoughts are very much with @CaptainTomMoore and his family. You’ve inspired the whole nation, and I know we are all wishing you a full recovery.”
Labour leader Keir Starmer said: “The whole nation hopes you get well soon @captaintommoore. You’ve been an inspiration to us all throughout this crisis.”
