Captain Tom Moore has shared his thoughts on who could play him in his forthcoming biopic.

The 100-year-old became a national hero during lockdown after raising more than £32m for NHS Charities Together by walking laps in his garden.

Now, the army veteran’s life is set to be turned into a film by the companies behind Finding Your Feet and Fisherman’s Friends, with production fast-tracked for 2021 after the rights were bought for an alleged seven-figure sum.

Speaking to The Sun, the actor suggested that either Michael Caine, 87, or Anthony Hopkins, 82, could be the right man for the job.

“I don’t know of any 100-year-old actors but I’m sure Michael Caine or Anthony Hopkins could do a wonderful job if they were prepared to age up,” he said.

The screenplay is being written by Nick Moorcroft and Meg Leonard, who will also produce the film.

“This is a story about the power of the human spirit and Captain Sir Tom personifies that,” they said. “We are honoured to be telling this unique and inspiring story and are excited about audiences getting to know the man behind the headlines.”

Moore, who was knighted by the Queen to commemorate his services to the NHS, will also have a cameo in the film.
