Captain Suryakumar Yadav hands winning trophy to Mayank Yadav, Gautam Gambhir reacts

NEW DELHI: With India having already secured the series, skipper Suryakumar Yadav opted to rest Arshdeep Singh, elevating Mayank Yadav to the role of frontline pacer for the third T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad on Saturday.

The young and talented Mayank quickly justified his captain's trust by taking a wicket with his very first delivery of the match.

Mayank bowled a blistering bouncer to Parvez Hossain Emon, who struggled to handle the chest-high delivery. The ball brushed the shoulder of the bat and some glove, resulting in a simple catch for Riyan Parag.

By taking a wicket on his first ball of the innings, Mayank joined an elite group of Indian bowlers. He became the fourth Indian to achieve this feat, alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya.

As the innings progressed, Mayank added another wicket to his tally by dismissing Mahmadullah in the Bangladeshi player's final international match.

His final figures for the third T20I stood at 2-32 in his four-over spell.

Concluding a remarkable debut series, Mayank finished with four wickets across three matches, claiming at least one wicket in each game while maintaining an impressive economy rate.

After the team's victory, as they gathered to celebrate with the winning trophy, Suryakumar approached Mayank, and Nitish Reddy presented the trophy to them.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir later shared a photograph of Suryakumar handing the trophy to Mayank, accompanied by a special message highlighting the young bowler's outstanding performance and the team's success.

"A tour de force!," Gambhir wrote on his social media handle.

India's next T20I assignment will begin on November 8, with India touring South Africa for a four-match series.
