Captain Munnerlyn says Cam Newton’s arm looks ‘a whole lot better’ than late 2018

The newest member of the Carolina-Buffalo pipeline is cornerback Captain Munnerlyn, who signed with the Bills this weekend. Munnerlyn enjoyed a chance to chirp at Panthers quarterback Cam Newton before, during and after today’s joint practice.

It’s all love and respect between these teams, though.

After the practice was over, Munnerlyn told the media that Newton’s throwing arm looks a lot better than it did late in the 2018 season and he expects big things from No. 1 this year.

Newton’s famous arm strength diminished down the stretch last season until he finally had to be shut down the last two games of the year.

After undergoing surgery and making dramatic changes to his throwing mechanics this offseason, Newton has looked far more effective passing the ball deep downfield at practice. Today, he hooked up with third-year wide receiver Curtis Samuel for another big passing play, burning Buffalo’s secondary for a 50-yard touchdown.
