Captain America 4: Anthony Mackie addresses rumours of Marvel film sequel

Anthony Mackie has addressed rumours that Marvel is planning to make a fourth Captain America film.

The actor recently starred alongside Sebastian Stan in the Disney Plus series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

At the end of the series, Mackie’s character Sam Wilson was seen taking over the mantle of Captain America, which was held in the Captain America films by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).

Mackie was asked by EW about reports that Marvel is developing a new Captain America sequel with the participation of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s creator Malcolm Spellman.

“I literally found out yesterday in a grocery store,” Mackie said. “The checkout guy named Dwayne, a cool cat, he’s like, ‘Yo, man. Is this real?!’ [holds up a cellphone] ‘I’m like, ‘I haven’t heard anything.’”

“That’s what I love about working for Marvel,” he added. “They call you, they’re like, ‘Come to L.A. We wanna tell you what’s going on.’ So, I’m excited to see what happens, but I haven’t heard anything.”

Spellman has also addressed the rumours, telling ComicBook.com to “not put faith in anything you do not hear directly” from Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

The most recent Captain America film was Civil War, released back in 2016.
