Cape Breton police say 21-year-old man faces murder charge in stabbing

SYDNEY, N.S. — Cape Breton Regional Police say a 21-year-old man faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with a stabbing.

Cody Alexander Russell, of Northside, was taken into custody and is to appear in Sydney provincial court on Friday.

Police say 25-year-old Stephen Tyler Chisholm died of stab wounds sustained in an incident on Clifford Street in North Sydney early Wednesday.

About 15 minutes after the first call, police were called back to King Street where they found a 21-year-old man with what appeared to be a life-threatening stab wound.

Police say he was taken to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for treatment.

Investigators now say the stabbings were the result of an altercation between two males, who were known to each other.
