Capcom is celebrating April Fool's Day by jokingly confirming a longstanding fan theory that its upcoming sci-fi shooter Pragmata is secretly a new Mega Man.
Later this month, Capcom's upcoming sci-fi shooter Pragmata will finally release, around six years after first being announced, and mark the launch of a brand new IP by the company. Except, about a year ago, the fanbase decided that, no, Pragmata isn't a new IP at all, and will secretly mark the return of Mega Man. This was mainly due to the sci-fi setting and robo-girl Diana wearing a blue outfit with flared sleeves that look almost like a Mega Buster.
Pragmata director Cho Yonghee told GamesRadar+ earlier this year that "I can assure you, Pragmata is a completely new IP for Capcom. It's not Mega Man in disguise." And considering Mega Man has since been confirmed to return with Mega Man: Dual Override, the theory was somewhat put to bed.
And now – in what is a Cinderella story for theorycrafters – Capcom has finally confirmed that Pragmata is a Mega Man game. A video released on the Pragmata Twitter account shows suspect Diana running along the beach with the Mega Man 2 credits music playing, but in a bizarre twist, she's not Mega Man, as protagonist Hugh walks up looking exactly like the blue bomber. Of course, it's an elaborate suit that looks like Mega Man, whose face flips away to reveal Hugh underneath before cutting to a hand drawn message from Diana: "Happy April Fool's Day ! :b"

However, that's a pretty elaborate thing to pull just for a silly April Fool's joke right? So, even if Pragmata isn't a full-blown Mega Man game, I wouldn't be shocked if we get access to that big, silly Mega Man costume in the full game as a nod to the theorycrafters.
