Caoimhin Kelleher revels in "crazy" night as Liverpool beat Arsenal in thriller

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher admitted that the Reds' chaotic Carabao Cup victory over Arsenal was "a bit of a crazy one" as the Irish youngster eventually became the hero at Anfield.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper saved Dani Ceballos' penalty in a shootout after a remarkable 5-5 draw in which the Reds had been 3-1 and 4-2 down.

Jurgen Klopp's side also trailed 5-4 deep into stoppage time when Divock Origi struck his second of the night to take the game to penalties.

It was there that Kelleher saved from Ceballos, with Reds substitute Curtis Jones then winning it from the spot.

"Obviously we do a lot of work with the goalie coach and on penalties and stuff, and I spoke just before the shootout about where certain players were going, so we've done our homework and I've managed to go the right way and make the save, so it was good yeah," Kelleher told Sky Sports after the match.

"It was a bit of a crazy one yeah, five goals went past me and I didn't have time to blink really. Some strange goals as well, so it was a bit of strange night but a good one in the end."

Kelleher also hailed the contribution of Origi, who again netted an important late strike for the Reds.

"He always comes up with massive goals when you need him does Div," said the goalkeeper.

"He was unreal tonight, and the whole team tonight, we never died and we kept going right to the very end."

Origi added that the win was all the sweeter because of the young nature of the Liverpool side.

"It is an important moment because we had a lot of young guys, a lot of energy, and we just tried to give it our best," he said.

"It was an unbelievable night, and the fans also made it a special night.

"It's our mentality to always keep on going regardless of what happens. Mistakes can happen, and we said it before the game, whatever happens we just have to keep on going, and yeah we're just very happy.
