Caoimhin Kelleher called up to Ireland squad after injury rules out Kieran O’Hara

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has been added to the Ireland squad after Kieran O’Hara was ruled out with an injury.

Ex-Manchester United man O’Hara, who enjoyed a loan spell at Burton last season and is looking for a new club, sat out this morning’s session having carried a knock.

Kelleher, already an Ireland Under-21 international under Stephen Kenny, is third-choice keeper at the Premier League champions.

And new senior boss Kenny said: “Caoimhin is very good. I like him and I really liked having him as my goalkeeper.

“He was due to go on loan but that hasn't materialised and like everything else, it's difficult to progress if you're not playing as a young keeper.

"It's still possible that he could go out on loan this year, he's probably at the stage where he needs to play games regularly now.”
