Canvas: New east London club revealed by team behind Oval Space and Pickle Factory

A brand new club is coming to east London.

The 400-capacity space, called Canvas, is set to arrive at the end of next month.

It’s a new venture from the people behind Oval Space and the Pickle Factory, and will sit on the same road as its sister venues in Cambridge Heath.

The venue promises “carefully selected programming of music, art, community and workshop events”, with a cafe and late-night bar also in the pipeline.

The first event will take place on February 29, hosted by Percolate and featuring an all-night set from Scottish DJ Eclair Fifi.

She said: “It’s an amazing space — I love the shape, the lowish ceiling. It all feels sweaty and intimate, and it really is a blank canvas. It feels like a wee warehouse and most people know how much I love warehouse parties.”

Oval Space first opened back in 2012, and was followed three-and-a-half years later by a smaller sister venue the Pickle Factory. The two venues often team up for sprawling multi-space parties, and may well incorporate Canvas from now on.

Tickets for the opening party are on sale now and can be bought here.
