Cantona, Jones, Milner - The Leeds United players you wished had stayed longer at Elland Road

Every club has them - the players that were let go too early and would go to bigger and better things elsewhere.

Whether it's a transfer offer too big to turn down, a falling out with a manager or simply the club getting that one wrong, football is littered with players who made their previous clubs regret letting them go.

Leeds United are no different. Since the Don Revie era, when Leeds' greatest-ever manager was able to call on the same core of players for more than a decade, the Whites have seen plenty of players have the briefest of Elland Road careers that left fans wanting more.

Earlier this week we took to Facebook to ask you to name the players you wished had had stayed at Leeds United longer - and we get plenty of replies, stretching right back to the 1970s.

Included are a few talented youngsters such as James Milner and Lewis Cook, who left the club when it was financially struggling, plus cult heroes who burned bright such as Vinnie Jones, Tony Yeboah or John Sheridan.

Then there a few more recent departures, with fans left wondering what could have been if Marcelo Bielsa had got his hands on them.

Here's a look at the players you wistfully listed over on our Facebook page...

Andrew Saxton Vinnie Jones

Tim Connolly James Milner

Andy Lufc Threlfall Simon Walton

Lee Bailey Billy Sharp

Paul Anthony Lufc Davies David Seaman , Andy Linighan , Denis Irwin

Craig Jones Chris wood, he’d have converted a lot more that Bamford under Bielsa ball for sure. We paid near as much for Bamford as we got for Wood

Navtej Singh Robbie Fowler

Kevin McMullan Definitely Cantona

Ian Mitchell Duncan McKenzie

Rayme Lynch Robbie Keane

Lee Hutchinson Cantona, yeboah, Milner, Cook

Martin Canning John Sheridan

Christian Wilson The French man...

James Mcglone Lasogga under bielsa
