Focused on my game and recovery, says Bhuvneshwar Kumar

India pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who missed out the recent limited-over series against the West Indies at home due to a side strain, and is recuperating now, says he is not sure whether he needs a surgery or not and hence can’t predict the timing of his comeback till he consults a doctor.

In an interaction with the media during the promotional event with ASICS here on Saturday, Bhuvneshar refused to debate on the recent controversies surrounding the National Cricket Academy on the fitness issues of some cricketers.

“It is not proper for me to comment on this. I am more focused on my game and recovery,” he said.

Priority

“My main aim is to get back to full fitness as soon as possible.

“The World Cup (T20) is still a long way. My job is to comeback soon and do well and not to worry about the team selection.

“For me, personally, it has been a good year. Well, injuries are part and parcel of being a professional athlete” he said.

“It has been a great year for the Indian cricket. We have won almost every series this season. Of course, when you don’t win the World Cup, you will always have that regret.

“But that is life. There will be ups and downs,” he said after inaugurating the ASICS store here on Saturday.

The 29-year-old, who is very popular here being a member of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, is all praise for the Indian pace attack.

“I think it is a great sign. A few years back, if you look at the matches in India, we are more dependent on spinners.

“But now we have a very strong fast bowling unit and that is the reason we are winning more tournaments,” he said.
