'Cannot do this' - Chelsea fans say the same thing after Tottenham make Antonio Conte decision

Tottenham have opened talks with Antonio Conte over the vacant managerial role at the club, according to reports.

Sky Sports are saying that Spurs are now in negotiations with Conte, but the two parties remain some distance apart over the Italian coach's salary demands.

The 51-year-old left Inter Milan recently after reportedly having a disagreement with the club's board - who were keen on selling some of his star players due to their financial situation.

Conte had just led the Milan-based outfit to the Serie A title after a superb season in the Italian top-flight, but left his position not long after.

Spurs are looking to replace Jose Mourinho, who was sacked in mid-April - and a number of names have been linked with the post.

Former Chelsea boss Conte has seemingly emerged as a target for Daniel Levy, but the Blues fan base have already made their feelings clear on how they would feel if this did happen.

Conte joined Chelsea after Euro 2016 after coaching Italy for two years and immediately became a favourite at Stamford Bridge.

The former Blues boss lifted the Premier League title in his first season in charge in England, taking to the top-flight by storm.

He completely transformed the way the team played, with a three-at-the-back formation, but was sacked by the west London club after two years in charge.

Chelsea fans of course have previous when it comes to their former managers taking over at Spurs.

Mourinho, who was adored by Blues fans up and down the country, took over at Tottenham in 2019 despite his previous affiliation with their London rivals.
