Taron Egerton joined Sir Elton John for a duet on the beach at Cannes following the premiere of biopic Rocketman.
Sir Elton 72, dressed in a tuxedo with the film’s name emblazoned on the back, took to the stage at the Carlton Beach Club for a rendition of I’m Still Standing.
Egerton, 29, who plays Sir Elton in the film, then joined him for a performance of Rocketman. The singer told the crowd of partygoers that the evening had been emotional.
Sir Elton, an executive producer, said: “Even if the movie doesn’t make one penny at the box office... it is the movie I wanted to make.” Earlier Egerton, who became close friends with Sir Elton during the making of the film, was moved to tears when the audience gave a standing ovation after the screening.
Rocketman has received rave early reviews.
