Cannabis worth more than £200,000 seized during raid at Eastwood flat

Cannabis plants with an estimated of more than £200,000 have been seized by police during a raid on a flat.

Around 350 plants were discovered above a commercial property in South Street, Eastwood, shortly after 10.15am on Thursday morning (April 8).

Nottinghamshire Police received intelligence from the public as part of their investigations, and upon arrival also found an array of "sophisticated" growing and filtering equipment.

The plants have been removed by specialists and work has been carried out on dangerous electrics at the property.

Nobody has been arrested and investigations by police are ongoing.

Inspector Simon Riley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a large and sophisticated cannabis grow with very significant financial value.

"Investigations are on-going and the drugs will now be destroyed.

"Cannabis cultivation on this scale is an incredibly serious offence that is often linked to organised criminality and other serious offences like modern slavery and human trafficking.

"When we find a grow like this we’ll do everything in our power to find out who is behind it and ensure they are punished accordingly."
