Cannabis worth €800,000 discovered in poster tubes by Revenue officials

A whopping 40kgs of cannabis worth €800,000 was seized by Revenue officers in Dublin today.

The herbal cannabis was discovered in boxes containing poster tubes at a parcel depot in the capital.

Ace detector dogs James helped officials sniff out the huge haul.

The packages originated in the Netherlands and were all destined for an address in west Dublin.

A Revenue spokesman said investigations into the find are ongoing.

He added: "These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs.

"If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
