Cannabis worth £250k recovered after cars searched on busy South Lanarkshire motorway

Cannabis with a street value of around £250,000 has been recovered following an intelligence led search of two vehicles on the M74.

The cars were stopped by officers northbound on the motorway near Abington around 11.40am on Wednesday, March 3.

Two men, aged 37 and 40, have been arrested in connection with the recovery.

The 37-year-old has been charged and is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court today (Thursday, March 4)

The 40-year-old has been released pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Kelly of Greater Glasgow CID said: “We are committed to disrupting the illegal and harmful supply of drugs in our communities. We will use every tool and tactic at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from our streets.
