Cannabis plants the size of Christmas trees seized from Hamilton house

A man has been charged after police seized more than £128,000 worth of cannabis from a house in Lanarkshire.

Officers acting on intelligence targeted the property on Brora Crescent in Hamilton on Tuesday, February 18.

A cultivation of the Class B drug, worth an estimated street value of £128,400, was recovered.

Plants the size of Christmas trees were seen within a doorway to the property as police officers scoured the house.

A 49-year-old man has since been arrested.

He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court today.

Sergeant Thomas Cairns, of Cambuslang Tabernacle Street Police Station, said: "We are committed to targeting the illegal supply of drugs in our communities and any information we receive will be taken seriously and acted upon.

"We rely on members of the public to provide us with information which we can act on.

“We would encourage anyone with information about suspicious activity to contact Police Scotland on 101 or if you wish to remain anonymous, to call Crimestoppers on 0880 555 111."
