Cannabis 'jelly sweets' among €32,000 drug haul seized by Revenue in Dublin

Cannabis infused "jelly sweets" were among a 1.5kg drug haul worth more than €32,000 seized in Dublin this afternoon.

The sweets and other illegal drugs were discovered at the Dublin Mail Centre by Revenue officers.

Officials were assisted by ace detector dogs Bailey and Sam in sniffing out the haul.

The drugs were discovered in parcels that originated in the United States and the UK and were declared as items such as ‘clothing’, ‘candle set’, ‘tea’, ‘backpack’ and ‘incense burner’.

All parcels were destined for delivery to various addresses Dublin, Offaly, Kilkenny, Clare and Kildare.

A Revenue spokesman said investigations into the find are ongoing.

He added: "These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs.

"If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
