Cannabis haul worth over £100k uncovered during routine police patrol

Cannabis with an estimated street value of £108,000 has been recovered by police in Lanarkshire.

During a routine patrol on Saturday, officers stopped a grey Toyota Avensis at the Harelaw Roundabout on the A721, Carstairs just after 8pm.

As a result, a 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged - he is expected to appear at Lanark Sheriff Court today (Monday, May 10).

Inspector Steven Conn told Lanarkshire Live : "I’d like to commend the good work of our officers who initially pulled the vehicle over as it was being driven in an erratic manner.

"Thanks to their good instincts and judgement, we’ve now removed a significant quantity of illegal drugs from the streets.

"If you have any information or concerns about drug misuse or wider criminality in your area, do not hesitate to contact us."

Anyone with any information on any crime should contact police on 101. Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
