Cannabis haul worth £220k found after cops pull over BMW on Scots motorway

Cops have found nearly a quarter of a million pounds of cannabis after pulling over a flash car on a Scots motorway.

Officers in Dumfries and Galloway say they have recovered the drugs with an estimated street value of £220,000, during a routine patrol yesterday.

At around 3.30pm, police pulled over a black BMW 520 for a routine check on the A74 (M) northbound at junction 16 near Johnstonebridge.

Three men, aged 49, 23 and 20, have been arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences and are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court today.

Detective Inspector Dean Little, of Dumfries CID, said: “Police Scotland is committed to disrupting the illicit supply of drugs in our communities and we will use every tool and tactic at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from our streets.

“If you have any information or concerns about drug misuse or wider criminality in your area, do not hesitate to contact us on 101 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
