Cannabis farm with 200 plants found at house in Tameside

An investigation has been launched after police in Tameside stumbled across a massive cannabis farm.

Around 200 plants were discovered by officers at a house in Ashton-under-Lyne last week.

Images shared by GMP show the plants - some of which appear to be saplings - lined up in several rooms which had been converted for the cultivation of the Class B drug.

It is understood that fully grown, the cannabis plants could have had a potential street value of around £100,000.

The photos were shared on social media by GMP (GMP)

Tameside Inspector Lee Derbyshire said officers found the farm while making enquiries at the property on Tuesday evening.

It was not a planned warrant.

No one was at the property at the time and no arrests have been made.

The farm was dismantled and the plants and equipment seized.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the offenders responsible," Insp Derbyshire added.

Anyone with information is asked to contact GMP on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
