Cannabis farm smashed after Durham police raid Blackhall house following tip-off

A cannabis farm was found when officers raided a County Durham property.

The plants, bags of compost and equipment were found at an address on West Street, Blackhall, after officers received community intelligence.

Durham Constabulary said plants were found upstairs and downstairs in the property, with enquiries ongoing.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers from the neighbourhood team carried out a search of an address in West Street, Blackhall, after community intelligence suggested that the property may contain a cannabis grow.

“Entry was gained and a number of plants were located in both the upstairs and downstairs of the address.

"The plants were seized along with a large quantity of equipment and bags of compost.

"The bags of compost were subsequently donated by the team to various allotment associations throughout Blackhall and Horden for their use.

"Further enquiries are currently ongoing. If you have any information which you think may assist us with our investigation, please get in touch via 101 or the Live Chat facility of our website.”
