Police tape was seen around the building on Monday.

A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "At around 5.30pm on Monday, February 17, 2020 police discovered a cannabis farm at a disused care home on Schools Hill in Cheadle.

" A police cordon is currently in place on Schools Hill.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

The Belmont Care Home shut down in 2017 after it was placed into special measures by the Care Quality Commission.

In December 2017, a sign appeared on the door saying 'the Belmont Care Home is no longer trading from this address'.

The building has been empty ever since.
