A cannabis farm was found after a fire ripped through a three-storey house.
Thick black smoke was seen billowing from the blaze on Mill Bank Road in Liscard in Wallasey on Friday (April 7). Three fire engines were sent to the scene shortly before midnight, with two teams of firefighters using hose reel jets to help extinguish the blaze.
Fire crews remained at the scene until 3.41am on Saturday, and the incident was handed over to police. Merseyside Police has now confirmed the fire is believed to have been started deliberately and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

A man in his 60s was taken to hospital after suffering from injuries to his arm. Following a search of the house, a large amount of cannabis was found to be growing in two rooms.
A police spokesperson said: "The property was made safe and our cannabis dismantling team (CDT) seized all items. Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward."

Community Chief Inspector Tom Welch said: “If you saw anything or anyone suspicious in the Mill Bank Road area on Friday evening, please come forward as your information could help assist us with enquiries.
“Whether you contact us directly or anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers, your information will be acted upon.”
