Cannabis farm discovered in flat raid

Police discovered 50 cannabis plants after they carried out a raid on a flat.

Cheshire Constabulary officers executed a warrant at a flat in Cheery Sutton, Hough Green, Widnes, shortly before 10am today.

A force spokesman said the raid uncovered about 50 cannabis plants and equipment, which were seized.

The ECHO was contacted by a member of the public who provided a picture of the scene in the street and a video clip appearing to show an officer grappling with large green mass of plants as he tries to pack them into the bag of a van.

Officers arrested a 37-year-old man from Widnes on suspicion of being involved in the production of Class b drug cannabis.

He was taken into custody for questioning.

The spokesman said: “Anyone with information that may aid the ongoing investigation is asked to call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 692745, or give the details via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/ro/report.

“Alternatively, information can be reported to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/give-information-anonymously.”
