Cannabis factory worth estimated £3.5million discovered in Avonmouth

A huge collection of cannabis plants estimated to be worth millions of pounds has been seized by police officers. An industrial unit in Avonmouth was discovered to hold a significant amount of the drug.

The plants have since been seized by Avon and Somerset Police , and have been estimated to be worth around £3.5 million. They were discovered in an industrial unit in the Burcott Road area of Avonmouth.

Avon and Somerset Police are currently investigating the discovery, and are making enquiries to identify the people responsible for the production of the Class B drug.

Inspector Steve Davey said: "Since the discovery of these cannabis plants, work has taken place to remove them and make sure the area is safe. A criminal investigation is underway to ascertain who was responsible for this large and seemingly professional operation.

"We would like to take the opportunity to ask the public to report any suspicious activity around industrial units or abandoned businesses that may be being used for criminal activity, such as has been the case in Avonmouth over a significant period of time."
