Cannabis factory found in abandoned pub sat 100 metres away from Swansea police station

Police officers investigating a suspected break-in discovered a cannabis factory in a former pub.

Officers responding to a report attended the old Mountain Dew Inn pub on Terrace Road, Mount Pleasant, early on Thursday morning, May 6.

Inside, they discovered a ‘comprehensive cannabis factory’, featuring a full irrigation system, and more than 400 plants.

Two men were arrested in Swansea; aged 27 and 53, both of no fixed address, were arrested and later charged.

The pair have been remanded in custody until a Crown Court appearance on June 8.

The discovery comes just days after the discovery of another cannabis factory a short distance away, on North Hill Road.

Police uncovered 250 plants at a residential property last weekend, and arrested a 25-year-old man.

A South Wales Police spokesman said: “Two men have been arrested locally and a third man was arrested by Avon and Somerset Police in connection with this [Mountain Dew Inn] incident”.
