Canelo vs Crawford LIVE!
Terence Crawford wrote himself further into boxing history as he became the first man to become an undisputed champion in three different weight classes with a monumental victory over Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in Las Vegas, Nevada. ‘Bud’ moved up from super-welterweight to take on the Mexican at the Allegiant Stadium in a super-fight that most thought was impossible to make. But the American, the serial underdog, proved everyone wrong, producing a masterclass to secure an incredible unanimous decision win that makes him the undisputed super-middleweight champion.
In the 12-round affair, Crawford established early that he was fully willing to engage with his bigger opponent, despite the pair weighing in at exactly 167.5lbs on the Friday. With no rehydration clause, Canelo was able to enter the ring heavier than before, but the 38-year-old Bud had other ideas, rubbishing predictions and concerns that he would not be able to handle the jump up in weight.
He was characteristically light on his feet, keeping Canelo at range, and landing his own left-handed bombs, while also eating the plethora of right hands that were thrown his way. He had no issue in exchanging at close-range, either, having plenty of success going to the body as well, securing one of the greatest victories in recent years.
On the Canelo vs Crawford undercard on Netflix, Ireland’s undefeated contender Callum Walsh defeated Fernando Vargas, while Christian Mbilli drew with Lester Martinez and Mohammed Alakel beat Travis Crawford following an opening bill that included the likes of Serhii Bohachuk, Ivan Dychko and Jermaine Franklin.

06:46 , Oli GentThe last three minutes. Who will blink first?
A nasty left lands from Crawford, which Canelo eats.
A right from Alvarez gets through, but Crawford’s uppercuts are knocking Canelo backwards. Not doing enough damage to really hurt him, but he’s earning that respect.
And that’s it! Both fighters raise their hands... but who’s done it? Scorecards to come.
Canelo vs Crawford: Round 11

06:28 , Oli GentA nice barrage of body shots from Crawford which connect. Crawford has taken the big hits really well, and is giving as good as he is getting.
He acknowledges a body shot that slips through, but Alvarez has done some good work in this round. He’s stalking his opponent around the ring, looking for that opportunity to land a heavy right, which he does, but Crawford is looking comfortable.
Canelo vs Crawford: Round 7
06:24 , Oli GentA good uppercut from Crawford, as he does superbly to exchange at close-range with the Mexican.
He shows good defence as Canelo looks to converge on him and crank up the heat, but the American is really showing his mettle here.
Canelo corners his opponent, but Bud does really well to get himself out in double-quick time.
Canelo vs Crawford: Round 6

A slick uppercut as well from the American, and there’s some swelling on Canelo’s right eye.
Bud is showboating a bit here, beckoning the Mexican on.
A superb round for Crawford, who sits down knowing he’s taken that one.
Canelo vs Crawford: Round 5
06:15 , Oli GentA good counter jab from Crawford to keep Canelo at range once more.
The Mexican is trying to close the gap, and looking to rest at certain intervals, which Crawford is beginning to take advantage of with consistent jabbing.
A nice body shot from Alvarez catches Bud on the way in, and another gets through, but Crawford catches the head shot.
Another tense round. Seven to go.

A bigger shot from Canelo lands partially upstairs, but Crawford takes it well and looks unfazed.
Another hook lands on Crawford’s head, but again he isn’t shook.
Crawford follows that up with a significant left hook and jab, moving side to side and keep Canelo just off balance.
Alvarez commits to a big right hand in the final seconds, and lands, sending Crawford flying backwards right as the bell goes! He takes it well and produces a wry smile as he takes the stool.
Canelo vs Crawford: Round 3
06:07 , Oli GentMore action in the third with a few more exchanges in the pocket.
Canelo is a bit more active, applying more pressure and throwing the bigger shots, but he’s not landed anything of particular note yet.
A lead left makes contact with the body, with Crawford managing the distance well and keeping the Mexican at bay.
A nice one-two from Canelo in the final ten seconds of the round, some handy body work to perhaps shift the judges’ views of that round.
Canelo vs Crawford: Round 2
06:03 , Oli GentCanelo is doing nicely with his lead hand to Crawford’s body. Crawford drops a good slip to get off the centre-line, but Canelo is looking to cut off the ring and put the smaller man under pressure.
Bud is doing some good work to keep the Mexican away from his head, and he’s got him on the back foot for a second. He needs to be wary of the counterpunch off the ropes, and he is, with round two in the books.
Canelo vs Crawford: Round 1
05:59 , Oli GentHere we go!
We’re underway in the super-fight. Crawford opens in that southpaw stance, with some tentative jabbing to find his range.
It’s Canelo with the centre of the ring, and Crawford is jinking around the perimeter, with the pair studying each other.
A big right from Canelo is blocked, before a body shot lands. Crawford is accurate with two of his own.
A tense opening round.

Here we go!
05:36 , Oli GentCue the dramatic music, this is the moment we’ve been waiting for.
Adam Jones and Danny Carey from Tool are shredding guitar and drums to ramp up the hype for this one, as if we needed it.
Michael Buffer, over to you.
Prediction time!
05:24 , Oli GentHow have the boxing greats called this one?
Mike Tyson, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk have all had their say...
Big win for Walsh!
05:19 , Oli GentWalsh takes it with a huge unanimous decision victory!
The scorecards read 99-91, 99-91, and 100-90!
‘King’ Callum remains undefeated.
Walsh vs Vargas: Round 10
05:15 , Oli GentThere’s a five punch combination from Walsh, which Vargas does well to block.
The Mexican hasn’t really shown the accuracy needed to really convince the judges here, as Walsh goes for a huge left but makes superb contact with the air.
Walsh’s best round, you’d have to say, as he is again more active than Junior. You’d imagine that the ‘King’ takes this one by decision.
Walsh vs Vargas: Round 9
05:10 , Oli GentWalsh is just being that bit more active than Junior in these later rounds.
That doesn’t mean to say that Vargas isn’t still in the contest, but he needs to throw more.
Senior is roaring his son on, screaming that this fight is still there to be won.
One round left. Who will let their hands fully go?
Walsh vs Vargas: Round 8
05:07 , Oli GentWalsh’s accuracy has improved in the final minute of the eighth and in the last couple of rounds here.
That’s a strong final 60 seconds there, landing some more body shots as well as a couple to the side of Vargas’ head.
Nothing too damaging, however, with the Mexican’s corner getting at their man, trying to gee him up for the final six minutes.
Walsh vs Vargas: Round 7
05:03 , Oli GentAnother competitive round with both looking to land combinations, but nothing meaningful is getting through.
Walsh looks downstairs and lands one on the beltline, while Vargas lands but leaves his gut open to get socked with a left from the ‘King’.
Three to go.
Walsh vs Vargas: Round 6
04:58 , Oli GentA better round for Vargas as he takes the centre of the ring, but he’s converged on quickly by Walsh.
A nice connection from Walsh with a good one-two to end the round, Vargas responds with a right that he just sneaks in before the bell.
Another even round.
Walsh vs Vargas: Round 5
04:54 , Oli GentA nice sequence from Walsh towards the business end of the fifth.
Vargas is doing a good job to stay right in his face, as the Irishman looks to step in and land bombs.
A more low-key round there, but one that Walsh will be confident that he will have taken.
Walsh vs Vargas: Round 4
04:50 , Oli GentA good left from Vargas gets through, but Walsh responds with one of his own. A short left out of the break lands for Junior, but Walsh sneaks one into the gut to score.
The Irishman is putting together some nice combinations, but Vargas is beginning to find his range a bit more, shown by that short right hook.
A big left from Walsh gets through the Mexican’s guard, and the bell goes, as the Irishman sits down knowing that he will have stolen that round.
Walsh vs Vargas: Round 3
04:46 , Oli GentWalsh is still looking for the body, trying to wear his more experienced opponent down gradually.
Neither has really been able to impose their will on the other so far. Both showing positive movements, but they are cancelling each other at the moment.
Three down, a potential seven to go.
Walsh vs Vargas: Round 2
04:42 , Oli GentA bit more calculated as the two get acclimatised in the ring.
Good job defensively by Vargas as Walsh looks for the one-two combo, and he’s snapping that lead hand, breaking Walsh’s forward momentum.
The Irishman is trying to work the body in the final seconds, and he lands a couple on the belt as the bell sounds.
Walsh vs Vargas: Round 1
04:38 , Oli GentHere we go, as the super welterweights clash.
Vargas is the first to throw a jab, as we see both men in their southpaw stances. You don’t see an awful lot of that, so it’s an intriguing battle.
No knockdown! Walsh falls backwards as Vargas throws, but the referee deems that that won’t warrant a count.
He needs to plant a bit more; he’s nicely on his toes, but perhaps a little too happy on his feet.
Tale of the tape
04:34 , Oli GentFor our co-main event, 14-0 Walsh takes on a fellow undefeated fighter Vargas, who sits at 17 bouts without defeat.
‘King’ Walsh is an inch taller at 5’9”, weighing in at half a pound heavier at 153.5lbs.
He also has a reach advantage of 1.5” at 71.5”.
Can the Irishman do it on the biggest stage?
Up next: Callum Callum Walsh vs Fernando Vargas
04:30 , Oli GentThe biggest fight of the undercard sees Irishman Callum Walsh and Fernando Vargas Jr, of Mexico put their undefeated records on the line in a super welterweight bout.
Walsh, 24, boasts a 14-0 record, with 11 knockouts, and a growing reputation in the sport for his finishing power and southpaw style. Vargas Jr, son of the two-time light middleweight world champion of the same name, is four years older and has a 17-0 record with 15 knockouts.
Both have a reach of 72 inches in what appears to be an even match on paper, and one which many are expecting to go the distance.
It's a draw!
04:20 , Oli GentWhat a fight!
Lester Martinez and Christian Mbilli play out a hugely entertaining draw!
It's scored 97-93, 96-94, 95-95.
Mbilli vs Martinez: Round 10
04:16 , Oli GentFinal round. This could be generational.
Another big Martinez uppercut, before the central American goes to the body.
Mbilli is still throwing bombs himself, with huge rights from the Frenchman.
Mbilli is looking to lean on Martinez and land the heavy shots, as his opponents eats another left.
They’re swinging for the fences as the bell rings, and the referee has to separate them!
Scorecards and decision next. What a fight.
Mbilli vs Martinez: Round 9
04:11 , Oli GentMbilli looks wobbled as a flurry of Martinez punches begin to get through.
The Guatemalan could have a chance here for the finish, and the Frenchman, still trying to come forward, is looking a bit jaded for the first time.
Mbilli lands an uppercut of his own in a good response, but it’s Martinez who is winning this round.
Mbilli vs Martinez: Round 8
04:07 , Oli GentMartinez might be onto something with the right hand over the top, which has been landing.
Mbilli is trying to counteract that with a left of his own, but Martinez has been having more success with that in recent moments.
He’s finding the angles off the ropes quite nicely, with another right that he lands, but Mbilli comes back with a huge shot of his own as the bell rings!
Mbilli vs Martinez: Round 7
04:03 , Oli GentAction as the bell rings as Mbilli plants two big shots, staying in Martinez’s face the whole time.
The Guatemalan responds well, landing a couple of his own in the final seconds.
Mbilli vs Martinez: Round 6
03:59 , Oli GentMbilli just will not let up. He hasn’t stopped since the first bell.
He’s really looking to fight in the pocket, but he’s rocked by an uppercut from Martinez. He’s still there, however.
Martinez needs to keep pushing the Frenchman back, and he gets to the corner looking a little bit spent.
Mbilli vs Martinez: Round 5
03:55 , Oli GentBoth fighters are landing consequential shots on the inside.
Mbilli is really darting in, looking to engage, but he is constantly being met by swatting Martinez shots to throw him off.
Another tough one to call.
Mbilli vs Martinez: Round 4
03:52 , Oli GentAnother round that is difficult to split the two.
Martinez’s corner are saying that it’s “too close”, pushing for their man to let his hands go more.
Mbilli is still trying to pin him on the ropes, landing clean, powerful shots in the dying embers of the round.
Mbilli vs Martinez: Round 3
03:47 , Oli GentBig shots once more as Martinez goes for the uppercut, not once, but twice.
The Frenchman continues to come forward, and looks to work the body late on.
What a fight this is turning out to be!
Mbilli vs Martinez: Round 2
03:42 , Oli GentThis has been a high-octane battle so far. Both men are throwing some haymakers in the early exchanges, with Mbilli trying to do his work on the inside, and Martinez fighting with his back to the ropes.
Both men are trying to match each other’s combinations, and that’s good work from Martinez to look upstairs in the final seconds.
Mbilli vs Martinez: Round 1
03:38 , Oli GentWe’re underway in the second undercard bout of the evening.
Mbilli goes flying into Martinez’s chest straight from the off, pinning the Guatemalan onto the ropes.
He does well to fight his way away them, hoping to spin his opponent back that way, but the Frenchman succeeds in manoeuvering his way out of it.
Both guys are throwing huge shots so far. It’s a bit of a phone booth scrap at the end of the first.
Up next: Christian Mbilli vs Lester Martinez
03:22 , Oli GentTo follow, we’ve got a super-middleweight bout, as Mbilli takes on Martinez.
Two undefeated fighter, the Cameroon-born Mbilli has a 29-0 record, with 24 knockouts, and is the WBC interim champion.
Having honed his craft in Canada, the 30-year-old has built a following through his entertaining, high-volume attacking style.
Martinez, with a 19-0 record and 16 knockouts, hails from Guatemala and is one year younger than Mbilli at 29 years old. Martinez is considered a more versatile and, perhaps, the more complete fighter.
This fight has been billed as flash vs discipline by some, making it an intriguing scrap.
Alakel vs Crawford: Round 10
03:15 , Oli GentWas Alakel a little shaken up at the end of the ninth?
Maybe, but he’s looking to get back into his rhythm off that lead hand.
There’s a slight swelling under his left eye as Crawford continues to push forward with great determination.
And the bell goes! Official decision next.
Alakel vs Crawford: Round 9
03:11 , Oli GentThe lead hooks are working for Alakel in the penultimate round of the first main card bout.
Crawford takes a huge swing and a miss with a left of his own, and Alakel laughs at him on the ropes, beckoning him on.
A flurry from the American, however, and Alakel shakes his head! He’s not laughing now as the bell goes, and his trainer asks him, “Why did you let him have this round?” in the corner!
Canelo is here!
03:08 , Oli GentThe undisputed is in the house!
Canelo has arrived, and everyone in the arena has seen on the big screens. The biggest cheer of the night so far.
Alakel vs Crawford: Round 8
03:06 , Oli GentAlakel looks more composed and concentrated in this eighth round and he’s turning up the heat and the power with his back hand.
He’s doing well to keep his range and stay on the outside, but when he needs to step in, he is doing so with some stinging blows.
Alakel vs Crawford: Round 7
03:03 , Oli GentAlakel misses with the one-two, but lands the last two, showing the importance of following up your combinations.
He’s still landing with decent accuracy, which should steer him to victory as we head into the eighth.
Alakel vs Crawford: Round 6
02:59 , Oli GentCrawford is looking to step on the gas a bit more and putting the pressure on Alakel, who isn’t being fooled by the feints.
He does well to fight his way off the ropes, the Saudi scrapper, and he’s boxed neatly so far.
Alakel vs Crawford: Round 5
02:55 , Oli GentAlakel is right back to work after a straight jab. His lead hand is really snapping at Crawford, stopping the American from stepping in and closing the distance.
The youngster is still in the ascendancy.

He has arrived, and his preparations will get underway shortly.

A big round from the Saudi Arabian, who goes in at the sit-down on top.
Alakel vs Crawford: Round 3
02:46 , Oli GentA right uppercut from Alakel is the pick of the bunch with just under a minute to go in round three.

A positive round for the underdog.
Alakel vs Crawford: Round 2
02:42 , Oli GentAlakel gets caught with a right hand but comes back nicely with an uppercut of his own.

How have both fighters weighed in?
Saturday 13 September 2025 23:40 , Oli GentCanelo and Crawford were both in peak condition at the weigh-in on Friday.
Crawford is stepping up from super-welterweight but both fighters tipped the scales at the same weight by coming in at 167.5lbs, inside the 168lb limit.
Standard Sport prediction
Saturday 13 September 2025 23:30 , Oli GentMuch has been made of seasoned super-middleweight Canelo - who has fought as high as light-heavyweight in his illustrious career - having an obvious size advantage against an opponent who began his career as a lightweight and is moving up significantly again.
However, to see them stand head to head or side by side, it is really notable how little there seems to be between them now ‘Bud’ has bulked up - indeed, Crawford is slightly taller than Canelo with a clear reach advantage.
However, while there is certainly no doubting his supreme technical abilities and incredible ring IQ, it is worth questioning how Crawford will handle competing with all that extra weight, having only fought once at light-middle before quickly vaulting up another two divisions.
There may also be an element of ring rust to shake off for the Omaha, Nebraska favourite, who has only fought once since July 2023.
But write him off at your peril. Canelo is one of the true all-time greats who wears down opponents so methodically, but the performance against Scull left a lot to be desired and could be more evidence of him finally slowing down after some 67 fights and two full decades in the pro ranks.
Canelo is understandably the favourite here, but we’re backing Crawford to make more history and become undisputed in a third different weight class on a night to remember in Sin City.
Crawford to win on points.
