History has been made in Las Vegas tonight as Canelo Alvarez became the undisputed super-middleweight world champion after stopping Caleb Plant in the 11th round.
Plant made life hard for the Mexican for the majority of the match but ultimately Alvarez's quality was the difference.
Alvarez floored Plant twice in the penultimate session before the referee stepped in to stop the fight to crown Alvarez the first four-belt champion at 168lb.
"It hasn't been easy to get to this point," he said. "This is for everyone, especially for Mexico.
"It means so much for the history of Mexico to be the undisputed champion. It makes me very happy and motivated to be one of six undisputed champions of the world.

"I have respect for Caleb Plant, he was a good fighter.
"We were men at the end, he wanted to keep fighting but I told him there was no shame. We had a great fight."
There were calls throughout the fight that maybe Alvarez underestimated Plant as the American's chin held up reasonably strong until round 11.
After ugly scenes at last week's press event, the pair shared close to a three minute conversation at the end of the fight where Alvarez said they had made up and spoke of his "respect" for his fellow fighter.
