Candlestick Chronicles: A 49ers beat writer almost gets arrested

One of the occupational hazards of covering an NFL team is apparently getting threatened with arrest. The San Francisco Chronicles Eric Branch found that out the hard way the night before the 49ers’ Week 12 game at Tampa Bay back in 2018.

Branch joined Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee and Kyle Madson to recount his tale of getting threatened with arrest by an irate hotel manager in Tampa. He also gives some other fun stories about his life as a beat writer, and discusses the incoming rookie class, Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers’ offseason.
