Candace Owens was scheduled to appear on a livestream for Turning Point USA on Dec. 15 before she suddenly decided to cancel. Fans started probing for an answer as to why someone who has created an identity of claiming everyone else is afraid of addressing supposed truths directly would run from a spirited debate — turns out, Owens’ husband forbade her from going to the livestream event.
Owens has been on an unprecedented run of conspiracies lately, even by her lofty standards. She started the year off with excitement about Donald Trump’s reelection back to office. But soon that relationship turned sour after she got more critical of the continued war in Gaza. Then things only got worse when President Emmanuel Macron decided to sue because of the allegations she’s been making about them.
But where things turned from bad to bizarre was when she decided to process the killing of Charlie Kirk in ways that have been hurtful to his family and friends. Owens has expressed on her show multiple times that she believes the conservative debater and podcast host was killed as part of a conspiracy that involved the FBI, the French government, Israel, amongst many other groups. It’s well worth noting that Owens has not presented any evidence for any of these claims, she rarely ever does.
However, as Owens started getting more hostile towards Charlie’s widow Erika, the team at Turning Point USA decided to finally reach out to Owens. A producer at the media company named Blake Neff extended an invite to Owens publicly and promised an event featuring Erika and all of Charlie’s closest friends in a bid to honor his memory and iron out all their differences.
At first, it looked like this feud was finally going to come to a close. Then seemingly out of nowhere, Owens shared that she won’t be attending the livestream. Owens’ explanation was that her husband, George Farmer, “vetoed” the livestream. Owens didn’t give any further clarification why her husband decided that this livestream was a no-go zone. There’s been speculation that it might be Farmer’s birthday or there was already a pre-planned meeting on that day.
In usual circumstances this would fare well with the audience Owens has built. She has long been calling her husband “the Supreme Court” affectionately as a show of respect for his authority in their household. For her conservative crowd, that is pretty much catnip. But since she went in on conspiracies head-first, her audience has evolved a little, so the reaction was all over the place.
One user on X said that everyone involved in this should be ashamed of themselves, and it’s hard to argue with that. Another user reminded everyone that Owens had been touting the “any time, any place” axiom for anyone who wanted to debate her about her conspiracies about Kirk. Another user suggested that her husband should also veto Owens’ podcast. One user said ‘Daddy said No’ is not a good enough excuse.

Ultimately, the sad thing about this entire saga is when you finally realize that this is all just content to everyone involved. Kirk’s death, as tragic as it was, is just another opportunity for them to garner more views and clicks to their content that exists for no other reason than entertainment.
