Cancer-stricken woman suffering side effects of Chemo moved to tears by stranger's kind gesture in Asda

A Cancer-stricken woman was moved to tears by a stranger's kind gesture in Asda.

Brenda Lee was shopping at the Harpurhey store when she accidentally walked away from her trolley on October 23.

The trolley had her purse inside containing bank cards and money.

The 80-year-old, who has breast cancer, says she may have become confused due to the side effects of chemotherapy.

After realising her trolley was lost, Brenda “frantically” searched the shop in a bid to locate her belongings.

It wasn’t until she approached a staff member that she discovered her purse had been handed in.

Brenda, who lives in Moston, said: “It moved me to tears. I was emotional for the rest of the day.

“I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to have it found by such an honest person.”

Brenda, who was diagnosed with cancer in February 2020, took to Facebook in a bid to track down the woman who handed in her purse.

She hopes she can send her a bouquet of flowers as a thank you for the act of kindness.

The grandmother-of-two continued: “From the bottom of my heart it’s so lovely to know there are still some good, honest people around.

“I would have loved to thank her in person.

“Chemo has really fogged my brain but I’m alive and on the road to recovery so I can’t complain.

“There are a lot of people who would gladly change places with me, I know.

“I can’t praise our NHS enough for the wonderful way I have been looked after. Everything moved very quickly once I was diagnosed and I can never praise enough.

“I have been so overwhelmed at the lovely, caring people who have responded to my post wishing me well and even offering help.

“The response has been amazing. It proves there is still a wonderful community spirit in Moston.”
