- A nurse , Penny Ann Senner, has been struck off the nursing register after telling a cancer patient that Covid vaccinations were the cause of their illness.
- Ms Senner, employed by Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust, made the comments during a routine appointment in August 2023 and gave the patient a leaflet linking to an anti-vaccination website.
- The patient, identified as 'Patient A', was undergoing chemotherapy and described feeling vulnerable and distressed by the nurse's 'direct and definitive claim'.
- The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) misconduct panel found four out of six charges proven, ruling that Ms Senner attempted to undermine public confidence in health advice.
- Ms Senner was also found to have accessed numerous patient records without authorisation, noting the reason as 'research' shortly after Covid vaccines were rolled out.
